I just found the website with the exciting title Give us Back New York. Once, New York was part of The Netherlands and named Nieuw Amsterdam. At some point in history it changed owner. And that was the end of Nieuw Amsterdam. On the website you can find all kinds of interesting facts in regards to the Dutch influence in the early days of what is now called New York.
