week/end

Our first week home has passed rather uneventfully. It was nice to go to our Church and Bible study group again. Edgar caught up with everything at work. I had the week to catch up on random house stuff, doctors appointments, and a personal design project.

The weather this weekend was gorgeous! On friday night we went to the little town of Senoia for coffee and live music in their local coffee shop (featured in previous posts).
Jerry Yates, a cool old country man with a guitar and a great voice, played and sang for us. He was also there the last time we visited a few months ago, so it was cool to hear him again. His style is very similar to Johnny Cash, and he's a Christian. His lyrics really preach it! We're fans.

Saturday we took advantage of the great weather to go exploring! We drove south on I-85 to Hogansville for the Hummingbird Festival. Hogansville is another cute old small town. The festival was definitely a southern cultural experience! After walking around the town we drove further south to LaGrange... another cute old town. We ended up at Bellevue, a beautiful plantation house built 150 years ago. Picture Tara from Gone with the Wind, and you've got it. The tour guide, an elderly retired teacher, escorted us through the house commenting on EACH piece of furniture. 2 hours later, we emerged having scoured just 6 rooms. In his defense, he had a nice sense of humor... and he was definitely passionate about his subject.
Highlight? The huge Magnolia trees planted 150 years ago by the plantation slaves themselves.
