Last night we went to see The Nativity Story Movie. We thought it was really good. It's really realistic, has a great middle-eastern looking cast, and tells the real Christmas story.
We were once again marveling at God's interesting ways and the brave but ordinary people he uses. Mary was just a scared teenager, Joseph a normal guy. But God used them in such surprising ways.
It's also mind-boggling how SIMPLE the first Christmas was. Joseph and Mary were all alone, Mary gave birth to the Son of God in a cave (more of a hole in the ground). No doctors, no baby shower, no home. The government was a mess, the king was searching to kill Jesus, yet God still came into the world in such simplicity to save it. Praise God!
