christmas holidays

This year we drove with my parents to Virginia to visit my sister Cheryl, her husband Jim, and their eight children!
We hadn't seen them for a year and a half... so it was exciting to see how they'd all grown and be smothered with hugs.
They live in Yorktown, so we got to see all the historic sites.

Here's our trip to Jamestown, the oldest permanent English settlement in America. It's now a beautiful museum and recreated village complete with historic interpreters...

here's a replica of one of the TINY ships that settlers sailed across the Atlantic in... so small!

here's one brave man...

one of my nieces, Hannah

the village.

The historical interpreters had fun with us... the "lord of the feast" (for christmas) introduced us to christmas in the early 1600s. Edgar was pulled out of the little crowd and made to gamble... the lord of the feast said to bid something he wouldn't miss much... his wife! Ofcourse he lost, and I was made to marry the town fool...
