This week is the OutBound conference here at OM USA. OutBound is for people who are interested in or getting ready to join OM and serve somewhere in the world for two years or more. The conference happens 4 times a year. This time we have 40 people from all over the country. There are young professionals, couples, and families including two babies! Of course they're all very cool people with a passion for God. So awesome.
We get the opportunity to meet them and hear their stories. Both of us were assigned "prayer partners" for the week. The girl I'm praying for is an artist, graphic designer, and dancer! She wants to go to the muslim world to use her skills for God. WOW! So great.
We're very excited about David, a guy Edgar met a few years ago at Passion '06. Passion is a huge Christian youth conference with a missions emphasis. David is a videographer. He was walking through the missions convention hall at Passion (a HUGE space with booths from tons of mission organizations.) He had decided he wasn't going to stop at any of the booths. But then he did stop when he saw a "really cool booth" with interesting graphics and banners, etc. There wasn't anyone in the booth, so he just stood there looking at it. An OMer walked up and said "cool booth, huh?." "yeah." And that was how it all began...with the beautiful graphics created by Anna, my super-awesome co-designer here at OM USA. David is here at Outbound this week. And he's joining my team/department at OM USA as soon as he raises support! He'll be working in our new video team with 3 others that are already here creating really great videos to tell the American Church what God is doing around the world.
That story gives me chills! Our graphics are crucial! I'm so glad I can contribute to God's work using the very specific talents & skills that He has created me for.
