Visitors from the Netherlands in Atlanta

It has been a while since we posted something, but on Wednesday our friends from The Netherlands Johannes, Wendy and baby Haddassah came to visit us (and they stay for a week!) It is their first time in the States. And we showed them around in the last couple of days.

We visited Atlanta, the Martin Luther King jr. Center. This is a National Park with his birth house and an Information Center about the Civil Rights Movement. It is an impressive place to be. It was also our first time. Our tour guide, an older African American man, told us at the end of the tour that he used to lead protests with Martin Luther King. During that time he was a pastor of a church and had guards outside his church to defend them against the white people. He told us "During those days, when a white man told a black man "I'm going to kill you" it was not a threat but a promise". That was powerful to hear.

In the evening we had diner at our favorite Indian restaurant: Planet Bombay.
