Communication Team update

Craft & voice the OM story in ways that inspire
American Christians to action.

My team (Marketing/Communications) created this team purpose statement on our 3 day retreat.

You may remember from our newsletter that our team leader, Mark, has moved on to another ministry within OM. Today we just found out that Kevin, guy below with straw hat & yellow lei, has agreed to step up and take over the day-to-day leadership of our team. We've already been calling Kevin our team "pastor," so it was great to hear that we have a team captain again: chosen from among our own ranks. I think he'll do a great job. We're still looking for a VP of marketing to expand our team even more & move us forward into uncharted marketing waters.

So here we are on the retreat, working during the day & playing at night: This was our "LOST" theme party. (by the way, the drink umbrellas were purely decorative for our waters & sodas... we didn't have THAT much fun!)

Meetings:

I was in charge of a brain-storming activity. Since we're a creative team, I thought it was appropriate to be creative in stating our direction & purpose. Throughout the meetings, there were piles of magazines, markers, papers, etc. We had freedom to draw, color, flip through magazines & rip out anything that spoke to us about where we were heading, etc. At the end of the retreat we sifted through all the brainstorming we had done, and settled on one word that expressed where we want to go this next year. We chose the word "voice."
Then I cut out the letters of the word, each out of a giant piece of foam core. We pasted pieces of our magazine clippings all over each letter. The result is a creative representation of our goals, purpose, & direction for this coming year. We're going to mount the letters on the wall in our communal work space. (I'll post photos as soon as we actually get it up on the wall!)
