We had a wonderful two nights in Savannah! Civilization felt good after sleeping on the floor for 4 nights! We love this city! We stayed at the edge of the historic district and wandered the streets, admiring architecture, stepping into the many art galleries, museum hopping, and eating tons of delicious food! Our idea of heaven. We even went to a musical, Violet, put on by Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). The city is a living art school. Back in the 1970s, many of the historic buildings were falling into disrepair. SCAD saved and restored many buildings throughout the city and today they are the largest land owners in the historic district. The result: a very cool artistic place! I spent many moments wishing I could have studied here!
This is the oldest Aftican American congregation in the United States. The First African Baptist Church. Edgar had read about their first pastor who lived back in the 1700s. He was actually the very first American Missionary (black or white!) ever to be sent out from our country. Very cool.

how cool about that pastor being the first missionary to be sent out from the u.s.! Hey Edgar - can you please find me a guy who likes to research things like that as much as you do so that I can be assured of having many meaningful trips in my lifetime? :)
